Effluent Treatment Plant

The Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) at Lokmangal College of Agriculture is designed to treat and recycle wastewater generated from hostels and college buildings. The primary objective of the ETP is to purify wastewater, minimize environmental pollution, and promote the sustainable reuse of water resources.

Guided by the principles of “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle,” the college has implemented an eco-friendly wastewater management system as part of its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable campus development.

Approximately 2.5 lakh litres of wastewater per day are collected and treated at the ETP facility. The treatment process primarily involves physical filtration and sedimentation techniques, ensuring that the treated water remains free from harmful contaminants without the excessive use of chemicals.

The treated water is reused for:

  • Agricultural irrigation
  • Garden and landscape maintenance
  • Campus greenery development

Additionally, the slurry generated during the sedimentation process is utilized as organic fertilizer for agricultural fields, further supporting sustainable farming practices and resource conservation.

The Effluent Treatment Plant serves as an excellent example of responsible water management, helping to conserve freshwater resources, reduce environmental impact, and promote a cleaner and greener campus environment.
