Water is one of the most essential natural resources that sustains life on Earth and plays a vital role in agriculture. Water banks are an effective water management system designed to store excess surface water during periods of availability and utilize it during times of scarcity. This practice helps ensure a reliable water supply, particularly in drought-prone regions.
Lokmangal College of Agriculture has established three water banks on its campus with the following storage capacities:
- Water Bank 1: 1.00 Crore Litres
- Water Bank 2: 2.39 Crore Litres
- Water Bank 3: 3.50 Crore Litres
Total Storage Capacity: 6.89 Crore Litres
These water banks provide a dependable source of water for agricultural activities during drought conditions and contribute to sustainable water resource management. In addition to supporting irrigation, the water banks also facilitate fishery activities within the campus.
The college regularly organizes demonstration programs and training camps for farmers to promote efficient water utilization, water conservation practices, and sustainable agricultural development.
