Rain Water Harvesting

Rainwater harvesting is an environmentally sustainable practice that plays a vital role in water conservation and groundwater recharge. It offers dual benefits by reducing dependence on groundwater resources while simultaneously replenishing underground aquifers, thereby promoting long-term water security.

Lokmangal College of Agriculture has implemented an extensive rainwater harvesting system across its campus. Several ponds, three lakes, and two wells have been developed for the collection, storage, and conservation of rainwater. Collectively, the three lakes have a storage capacity of approximately 6 Crore Litres of water.

The harvested water is utilized for irrigation purposes and, after appropriate filtration, for drinking and domestic use. In addition to surface water storage, the college also practices rooftop rainwater harvesting and borewell recharge, ensuring efficient utilization of rainwater and enhancing groundwater levels.

The rainwater harvesting infrastructure serves as an excellent model of sustainable water management, supporting agricultural activities, reducing water scarcity, and promoting environmental conservation. Through these initiatives, the college demonstrates its commitment to responsible resource management and sustainable campus development.
